Turkish Airlines to Lift Istanbul-Ashgabat Service to 17 Weekly Flights from June 10
Turkish Airlines will raise the frequency of its Istanbul-Ashgabat route to 17 flights per week starting June 10, building on an earlier increase to 14 weekly departures that took effect on April 1, 2025.
Frequency Rising to 17 Flights per Week
Turkish Airlines is set to scale up its Istanbul-Ashgabat-Istanbul service to 17 weekly flights from June 10, 2025. The announcement was made by Turkey's Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok, at an event marking Turkey Tourism Week.
The latest expansion follows a previous uplift: as of April 1, 2025, the carrier had already raised its weekly frequency on this corridor from 11 to 14 flights.
Turkmen Travelers Driving Strong Demand
Traffic data underscores the growing appetite for Turkey among Turkmenistan's population. In 2024, a total of 153,688 Turkmenistani citizens traveled to Turkey - a 27 percent rise compared to the previous year.
Turkey's overall tourism performance in 2024 was equally striking: the country received 62.3 million international visitors and generated a record 61.1 billion USD in tourism revenue. For 2025, Turkish authorities are targeting 65 million visitors and 64 billion USD in receipts.
A Major Carrier on a Key Route
Founded in 1933, Turkish Airlines currently operates a fleet of 472 aircraft and flies to 131 countries across 353 destinations worldwide.
On the Ashgabat-Istanbul corridor specifically, Turkmenistan Airlines also contributes 10 weekly flights, meaning the combined capacity on this route is set to be substantial once the June changes take effect.
